"Glory is a heavy burden, a murdering poison, and to bear it is an art. And to have that art is rare."-Oriana Fallaci
The element is called Arsenic. To shorten the name, it is Ar. The atomic number of this element is 33 which mean it has 33 protons and electrons flowing around the nucleus. It has 5 valence electrons and 4 energy levels. This element is used for cars and trucks. The reason why is because there are certain parts of lead storage batteries used for cars. It is also used in electronic industry. They help make LED (light emitted diodes), which are use for the lights on your clocks, calculators, and watches, and so on. Arsenic is found in groundwater, fishes, volcanoes, soil, and minerals. It is used for treating wood. For examples, telephone poles and railroad ties. Arsenic can't be broken down into a simpler chemical because it's not an molecule that is made from other element. It can do a lot of damage due to its toxicity. Although arsenic can do damages, it is also used in medicine. Such as, the Fowler solution, it is used for psoriasis.
What I did for my element is that I drew nature. I had trees, the ocean (somewhat), and rocks. Just anything you would find in nature. The reason why is because Arsenic is mainly found on the crust of earth and in the water with all the fishes and in minerals. So immediately, I combined those 3 main things together. I made my plate by first drawing it on a sketchpad 6x6 inches. Next, I trace it on a tracing paper. Then, placed the tracing paper on the linoleum block but I made sure that it was backward so when I print it, it would be facing forward. After that, I marked out all my negative and positive spaces. Finally I cut out all the negative spots.
Painting the plate was okay. It wasn't fun or boring. It was just in the middle. I designed my plate by painting it. I liked drawing it the best because it came out really great and it represented what my atomic means. In the near future, i would cut it differently and turn the paper because at the end, my atomic came out the opposite way of what it suppose to be. Over all, it was a good experience
